Who are our competitors?

Mainstream schools …

• who are trying to provide an inclusive programme which in terms of latest legislation are now termed "full service schools".
• who don't have the necessary physical, human or financial resources for providing special programmes for intellectually impaired learners.

What are the external threats?

• closure of pre-school classes at mainstream schools - preventing early childhood intervention.
• inexperienced educators in mainstream schools in terms of identification of learning disabilities and the proper referral procedures
• Learners are often referred to us almost too late.
• negative stigmatisation of these learners and their families
• absence of a national and provincial policy regarding admission criteria, referral processes and a national curriculum statement
