“DISABLED WALK-A-THON”
Human Rights – and World Down Syndrome Day was celebrated on the 21st of March 2007. Twenty of our learners participated in the walk which was organised by the Down Syndrome Association of the Western Cape and the SAPS Central Office. The learners and staff who attended thoroughly enjoyed the 3km walk through the City of Cape Town.
SCHOOL CAMP 2007
Camping is always fun as experienced by the Junior and Intermediate Phase learners who went camping from the 5th to the 7th of February. The annual sponsored camp at the Cape Times Fresh Air Camp (Fishoek) is always a highlight for the learners.

SPORTS WORLD SUMMER GAMES CHINA 2007
Seventeen of our learners will be participating in the World Summer Games in China during the month of October 2007. Practice has started in earnest in preparation of the games. David Marks has qualified for the 400m run and sixteen soccer players will compete at the Special Olympics event in Shanghai China.
W.P. SASA II
The following learners participated in the W.P. SASA II games that were held at the University of Western Cape on the 22nd of February 2007. From these athletes nine progressed to participate in the Western Cape Games that was held at Pentech Stadium on the 15th of March 2007.

SWIMMING
Ever considered swimming a professional career? Speak to Mrs. Van der Heuvel. R2 per week allows your child to participate in the weekly swimming programme at the Grassy Park swimming academy. These learners participated in a swimming gala at the U.W.C indoor pool on the 7th of February 2007. We wish to thank Retreat Aquatics for allowing our learners to train with the club at a nominal fee. Thank You also for the use of the clubs noodles and kicker boards during the Junior Phase outing.
NEW PERIMETER FENCE
Thanks to the donation of the Safe School Project our school has a brand new front perimeter fence. This will assist with additional security to secure our premises and to create a safe environment.
CONSTRUCTION OF GARAGE
Mr. Constant is making progress with the construction of two additional garages. The project is to be completed in the near future. The school will soon acquire a brand new bus to transport the learners.
SAFETY PLAN FOR CHILDREN Schools in the area has received information from the SAPS about persons abducting girls from the age of 9 years and older. As a school and parent community we need to inform our learners so that awareness may be created.

VERY SPECIAL ART LINK We received drawings from our Artlink partner teachers, Marie Calabro (Beverley Woods Elementary School) and Mary Jo Roberts. (Fargo Elementary School) One of our learners Abdul- Aziz Koeries received a certificate for his art piece that will be exhibited at Union Station in Washington, DC. This will be on display during June 4 – June 24.
